China Glaze – Goin’ My Way?

China Glaze – Goin’ My Way?

I’ve been waiting forever to get my hands on polishes from the new China Glaze Vintage Vixen collection.

- Price -
I don’t remember exactly what I paid for this bottle because I was just so excited to get my hands on it. If I had to guess I would say $6 something.

- Quantity & Quality -
Goin’ My Way? is the usual high quality China Glaze product that I love in the regular sized .5 fl. oz. bottle.

- Drying Time & Durability -
Dries quickly after a few coats to obtain bottle color. With a good top coat I’m able to wear it for nearly a week. I’m very hard on my nails so this is a great thing.

- Color -
I usually don’t wear browns well but with this polish you’re always in for a surprise. It changes colors in various levels of light so you’re treated to everything from light to dark.

- Purchasing -
Available at online retailers and at Kali’s Nail Supply.

- Overall -
I would purchase this again in no time. It’s such a beautiful and complex color that you could wear with a variety of things.

I first went to Kali’s Nail Supply on Thursday, May 6th around 1pm. Through a change of plans I ended up going with my boyfriend and my grandma. Quite interesting shopping partners and I still don’t know if I found the experience of taking them enjoyable or not.

Walking into Kali’s is like walking in to the proverbial candy store. Hundreds of bottles of polish line the shelves each in its own unique shade looking out at you calling like a siren song, welcoming you to get lost in their colors. They have a large selection of China Glaze, essie, and ZOYA with some ORLY and other manicure and pedicure essentials.

Kali herself is a wonderful experience as she flits around the store showing you new items, helping other customers, and giving a big dose of humor; all the while making you feel very comfortable in her little beauty oasis. Her husband Roger is very knowledgeable and helpful. Self-restraint is a must when shopping here, seeing so many beautiful colors will make you want to buy them all.

If you must buy everything in sight I would suggest waiting until the first Sunday of every month for their 1st Sunday Sale Day! Retail customers get 20% off store-wide with a $20+ purchase with cash or check and 17% off with credit or debit. This is a great time to stock up on the essentials like top coat and base coat along with picking up some of those higher end items.

The prices are higher than from many places you could buy from online, but they’re reasonable if you consider where we are plus personally I would rather spend a little more and be assured I know the color I’m purchasing. The convenience of being able to do down and pick up a bottle as opposed to waiting by your mailbox is also a plus.

Kali gave tried out a buffer on my boyfriend and this is what 5 seconds with the D-Files Buffer did to his thumb nail. She let him keep the buffer after and he kept being amazed at how shiny his nail was.

Konad Regular Polish - R39 Solid Pop Green

Konad Regular Polish - R39 Solid Pop Green

This was a brand I found browsing around my local Longs (CVS) store looking for a suitable grey polish. At first I was skeptical because of the little plastic bag it came in and the small bottle, I was going to brush it off as a child's polish until I looked closer and saw that it was a Konad brand product. For those unfamiliar with the brand they're a company started in Korea and are best known for their stamping and nail art kits. (http://konadnail.com/)

- Price -
Purchased my bottle at Longs Drugs (CVS) for US$3.19, this is a little pricy for what can be considered a smaller sized bottle but it doesn't take long to see that it is a quality polish for it's price.

- Quantity & Quality -
Konad Regular Polish comes in bottles that are 0.35 fl. oz./10ml which isn’t that big compare to say a bottle of Revlon or Sally Hansen Diamond Strength at 0.5 fl. oz./14.7ml and 0.45 fl. oz./13.3ml respectively, but what this bottle lacks in quantity it makes up for with the quality of its polish. Incredible polish, it provides great color with little application. Two thin coats were all that I needed to obtain the bottle color and provide great nail coverage. Also, it comes in a durable bottle which I know because I dropped it on my bathroom floor and it survived with no problem. These things along with a thick but incredibly manageable brush that spreads polish perfectly and evenly makes this a great polish for me.

- Drying Time & Durability -
This polish had an incredibly fast drying time for me. I’m able to apply a second coat within two to three minutes of my first coat drying. Topped off with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, I’m already typing out this review only 15 minutes after I applied my polish with no problems. After a few days the polish on the tips of my nails will start to wear away but I can still easily wear this polish a week and a half as long as I’m just doing normal activity. *On a side note I wore this polish to the beach the following day and after digging in the sand most of the day only two nails had chipped and lost their color. Since this isn’t normal activity for me I still consider this polish quite durable.

No amount of top coat will save your polish (or maybe even your nail itself for that matter) from ending up like this when you spend nearly all day digging in the sand.

- Color -
Solid Pop Green is an extremely cute semi-gloss teal that would go great with a wide array of other colors. I would consider this an all season color because it brings on a summery feeling in the winter and would look great with the summer color palette during the summer. I personally wore this color to match a swimsuit that had a variety of colors on it including a green that matched the Solid Pop Green polish.

Lots of cute summery inspired color combinations compliment this color.

- Purchasing -
As I said I purchased mine at Longs Drugs (CVS) but you may also purchase it online through Konad (http://www.konadnailart.com/contents/en-us/d32.html) for $4.90 and through TheNailArt.com (http://www.thenailart.com/konadregularnailpolish.php) for $5.99. I have not purchased from these sites before so doing so is at your own risk.

- Overall -
I’d say this is a top quality polish with a variety of colors to choose from. Konad Regular Polish has all the aspects I look for in a great polish: easy application, fast drying, durability, and a great selection of colors. The only drawback I can think of would be the price for the amount of product you receive but I’ll definitely be buying this polish again along with other colors in the future.
